The course covers the core investigative processes including, note taking, report writing, case preparation, interviewing and statement taking. They will also learn about such issues as the continuity of evidence; public/private distinctions in the powers of arrest; search and seizure; and the role that forensic science can play in criminal and civil investigations. The students will also be acquainted with the concepts and practices involved in the process of collecting, analyzing, and evaluating intelligence and in managing the intelligence cycle, as well as the use of intelligence processes to support corporate and security investigations, planning, and policy formulation.
