By understanding Dr. Jose Rizal’s important political publications as well as literary compositions, the course also aims to make students understand the relevance of the hero’s socio-political thought in the emergence of 19th century concept of Filipino nationhood, and the significance of such conception to the present time. From such endeavor students are expected to develop in themselves value-based reference for reacting and conducting themselves toward certain ideas and social phenomena as individual and member of Philippine society.
