This course will introduce the student to theory and concepts in transcultural nursing, and the role of culture in understanding and caring for diverse clients in health care settings. It will provide an overview of the influence of culture on health care practices and in the delivery of nursing care for individuals, groups, and communities. This course is designed to assist nursing students in learning about culture, belief systems, values, and practices that are specific to identified cultures in order to better understand and provide nursing care that is both culturally competent and culturally sensitive in nature.

This course deals with concepts, principles, theories and techniques of nursing care of at risk and sick adult clients in any setting with alterations/problems in nutrition, and gastro- intestinal, metabolism and endocrine, perception and coordination, acute and chronic toward health promotion, disease prevention, restoration and maintenance, and rehabilitation. The learners are expected to provide safe, appropriate and holistic nursing care at risk and sick adult clients utilizing the nursing process.

The course presents the basic research methodologies appropriate to research in the field of OA. This will include processes and techniques associated with selecting and refining of research problem, the means of identifying the current state of research in the field of study, data identification and collection, information analysis, and synthesis solution to the problem and recommendations. The selection of appropriate means of disseminating research finding in an integral part of the course.
